Released in 1981 and playable on early computers, Zork led adventurers on a text-based journey through a labyrinthine underground world to collect treasure. The gameplay of Zork was simple, yet players absolutely had to make their own hand-drawn maps in order to survive in this challenging video game.

Today, Zork is still playable and stands as an important part of video game history, especially when it comes to the development of the RPG genre and other games like Zelda, World of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy. The idea of collecting items, exploring a world, and defeating monsters as an adventurer choosing your own path was revolutionary in 1981 and we are still hooked on the idea today. The hand-drawn maps made by players of Zork stand as a testament to this amazing game and the way it completely captured player's imaginations.
