As teenagers, George, Marilyn and George were instrumental in the establishment of the Greek Orthodox Folk Dance Festival (FDF). Members of the St. Spyridon youth council in the 1980s, all three were involved in Greek dance. When Marilyn invited a professional Greek dance group to perform at the parish festival, the St. Spyridon dancers were inspired and talked about performing on their own. The director of the parish youth council, Peter Preovolos, took it a step further, suggesting they invite young people from other Greek Orthodox parishes to a dance competition, and FDF was born.
