#Jailer is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The film stars #Rajinikanth in the lead role, alongside Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah, Sunil, Mirnaa Menon and Yogi Babu in supporting roles.

The film was officially announced in February 2022 with the working title Thalaivar 169, being the 169th film of Rajinikanth, while the official title Jailer was announced in June. Principal photography began in August 2022 in Chennai and wrapped in June 2023. The music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Vijay Kartik Kannan and R. Nirmal.

Jailer was released theatrically on 10 August 2023 to positive reviews from critics who praised its screenwriting, direction, cast performances, characterisation and background score.[6] The film grossed ₹600–635 crore worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 as well as the third highest-grossing Tamil film


#Vikram is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. #Lokesh and Rathna Kumar worked together on the dialogues in this film. It is produced by #KamalHaasan who stars in the titular role, along with Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil with Narain and Kalidas Jayaram in the supporting roles and #Suriya in a cameo appearance. A spiritual successor of the 1986 film of the same name, it is the second installment in the #LokeshCinematicUniverse following Kaithi (2019).

Lokesh was signed by Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International for a proposed script in late 2019, with Rajinikanth planned in the lead role, but that was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lokesh then announced another project for September 2020, featuring Haasan in the lead role as well as the producer. Its title Vikram was announced in November, and extensive pre-production work continued till early 2021. Principal photography began in July 2021 and ended in February 2022 with filming taking place across Tamil Nadu including Karaikudi, Chennai, Pondicherry, and Coimbatore. The soundtrack and score were composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography handled by Girish Gangadharan, and editing done by Philomin Raj.

Vikram was released theatrically on 3 June 2022 to positive reviews from both the critics and audience, alike. The direction, performances of the cast (particularly those of Haasan, Sethupathi, and Faasil's), writing, soundtrack, cinematography, editing, and action sequences were highly praised. The film emerged as the all-time biggest blockbuster of Tamil cinema, turning out to be a massively profitable film for all investors involved.[8] It is currently one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all-time, earning an estimated US$53–64 million[a] worldwide against a budget of US$15 million

#Thunivu (transl. Fortitude) is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language action heist film written and directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor.[8] It stars #AjithKumar in lead role with Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, John Kokken, Ajay and Veera in supporting roles.

The film was announced with the tentative title AK61 (Ajith's 61st film in a leading role) in February 2022, the third collaboration between Ajith, Vinoth and Kapoor after Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022). Principal photography commenced in April and ended that October, taking place in Hyderabad and Bangkok. The title Thunivu was announced in September. Post-production works began in late-October and were completed that December.

Thunivu was released theatrically in the week of Pongal on 11 January 2023, where it received mixed reviews from critics and was a commercial success at the box office
