Nani Pelekai (otherwise known as just Nani) is a young Hawaiian woman who plays a supporting role in the "Lilo & Stitch" franchise. She lives on the island of Kauai with her little sister, Lilo, for whom she also became a legal guardian and the main caretaker after their parents' sudden demise. She makes her debut in the 2002 first animated movie of the franchise, "Lilo & Stitch" and the following shows and movies. Even though Nani appears less frequently on the screen than the main characters, Lilo and Stitch, her role remains crucial, since usually she is the one who is the voice of reason for everyone in various difficult and complicated situations, as well as the one who supports and upholds the balance in their chaotic lives.
