IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 | Special Session 2: Defence Cooperation and Small State Security

Описание к видео IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2024 | Special Session 2: Defence Cooperation and Small State Security

Security considerations for small states are particularly acute, given challenges like population size and other resource limitations. Various strategies for managing these challenges can be observed in Asia and other parts of the world. Defence cooperation in these situations can manifest itself in close partnerships with a larger neighbour, the maintenance of a distant ally, collective security arrangements, or defence industrial collaboration to support independent military capabilities. This session will explore the trade-offs in these approaches to defence cooperation for small states.
