Ryan with the pool service pros talks about how it is to work with home warranty companies. In this video he mentions how the process works, the pros and cons of the system, and also adds a few of his opinions in there as well. Check it out and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

What is a home warranty
Typicall in todays world when a customer buys a house a home warranty is involved. The home warranty is designed much like insurance. When certain items fail or break around the house, the home warranty company has a group of contracts that are licensed to come out and fix the issue. Some items are covered some items are not covered.

Terms to know
The trade call fee is a price that the home owner will pay when the contractor arrives on site. Usually this price is set between $60 - $90. This is just like a deductible. The pre authorization limit is a price that the contactor is allowed to bill out without needing any further authorization from the warranty company. If the total bill will be above the pre autho amount, the warranty company will be needed to be contact to get the price authorized. This price usually starts at $100- $300 and over time can rise between $300 - $500

The process
The process works like this. When something fails around the house the home owner will contact the home warranty company. The home warranty company then dispatches out the work order to a local contractor. This contractor has 2 hours to call the home owner. The appointment of arrival needs to be set with the home owner within 48 hours of receiving the work order. Upon arrival the home owner will pay the contractor the trade call fee. Then the contractor can proceed with diagnosing the issue with the pool. If the issue is direct related to heating or filtering of the pool water, the contractor can fix the issue. The remaining part of the bill is sent to the warranty company, which they will pay.

Pros and cons
There are a few pros and cons Ryan mentions in the video. With anything there are good points and bad points to working for any company.
