As an agent, I’m often asked, “Should I sell my home during the winter?”

Hi, I’m Kurt Clements with eXp Realty in the far west suburbs of Chicago.

I hear this question a lot, and I get it.

In a balanced market, where we have an equal number of buyers and sellers, the winter months used to be considered the worst months to sell your house.

Generally, due to our Midwest weather, fewer buyers would view properties for sale. They would wait until the spring when it’s warmer outside.

However, that sentiment no longer rings true with the lack of inventory in today’s housing market.

In addition, listing your home in the winter ensures the looky-loos stay home, and only the motivated buyers view your property.

Plus, there are still sellers who have no interest in listing their house in the winter, which means less competition for you.
