Taipei is planning to move the overpass that connects Zhongxiao W. Rd. to outside the city to smooth the flow of traffic in that part of town. A beneficiary of the process will be Taipei’s historic North Gate, which the city intends to return to its original splendor by creating a big public space around it. The North Gate, which was completed during the Qing Dynasty in 1884, was boxed in as the city developed and the old city wall was torn down.
