Introduction of the very first Boeing 747 in service by Pan American World Airways. In 1969 Pan Am received its first 'Jumbo Jet' early from Boeing and took it on a rock star tour in major US cities (with big airports) to flaunt it to the press. This was coordinated with a promotional advertising campaign (with this video) to generate excitement in anticipation of the official launch of the plane in commercial service in January 1970.
