One key question I would like to explore is: How can educators help preserve cultural identity and mother tongues while preparing students to thrive in a globalized, technology-driven world?
Once, I was telling a funny story in our mother tongue, Darija, while illustrating a figure for my class. Most of my students didn’t understand it, yet they could easily grasp international jokes they learned from social media. It was confusing and eye-opening. I realized that even in Morocco, students can be disconnected from the language they live in. This made me wonder how we can use technology to make cultural and linguistic learning engaging and accessible, creating a balanced environment for students to thrive.
Technology offers incredible opportunities to enrich education, but it must complement, not replace, cultural connection. Exploring this at YGS will help me understand how global momentum can be harnessed to create meaningful, culturally aware impact in education and beyond.
