बराथ गांव जड़ाऊखांद - गौलिखाल सड़क मार्ग पर स्थित है।यह गांव दो भागों में बंटा हुआ है। बराथ मल्ला और बराथ तल्ला।

इस गांव की एक अलग परंपरा है। उत्तराखंड के पर्वतीय भागों में देवी देवताओं के अनेक मंदिर पाए जाते हैं और यहां के लोगों की इन क्षेत्रीय देवताओं पर अटूट आस्था एवं विश्वास होता है।

बराथ गांव में उत्तराखंड राज्य के अन्य गांव की अपेक्षा एक अलग परंपरा कई वर्षों से निरंतर चली आ रही है। यह परंपरा इस गांव को उत्तराखंड पर्वतीय प्रदेश के अन्य गावों से विशेष बनाती है।

गांव के एक स्थान पर गुरु झंडे की स्थापना की गई है। क्षेत्रीय जनमानस एवं अन्य लोगों की लौकिक मनोकामनाओं की पूर्ति होने पर लोग यहां पर आते हैं और गुरु झंडे पर खोल चढ़ाते हैं।

गुरु झंडे को लेकर जनमानस में अनेक जन मान्यताएं प्रचलित है। इन पर लोग पूरा विश्वास करते हैं।

ऐसी मान्यता है कि बराथ नामक गांव में कई वर्ष पूर्व अनेक जातियों का आगमन हुआ, किंतु दैवीय आपदाओं एवं अनेक विपत्तियों के कारण ये जातियां यहां पर स्थाई रूप से न रह पाई।

कालांतर में पोखरियाल जाति के लोग यहां पर रहने के लिए आए। पोखरियाल जाति के लोगों के एक पूर्वज के स्वप्न में एक दिव्य पुरुष ने दर्शन दिए और कहा कि उस स्थान पर जाना वहां तुम्हें मेरे कुछ संकेत मिलेंगे तदुपरांत पोखरियाल जाति के लोगों ने ऐसा ही किया बाद में उस स्थान पर गुरु जी के स्थान की स्थापना की गई और गुरु झंडे को स्थापित किया गया।

ऐसी ही एक परंपरा देहरादून महानगर में भी है। जिसे कि झंडा मेला कहां जाता है।

एक अन्य जन मान्यता के अनुसार बराथ नामक गांव में गुरु राम राय के कुछ भक्तों ने डेरा डाला था। जिस स्थान पर उन्होंने डेरा डाला उस स्थान को अपने गुरु का स्थान मानकर वहां पर गुरु झंडे की स्थापना की। वर्तमान में भी यह परंपरा अविरल गति से गतिमान बनी हुई है।

गुरु ही मानव को जीवन और जगत का बोध कराता है। इसलिये सभी मनीषियों ने गुरु तत्व को सर्व श्रेष्ठ माना है। इसी लिए भारतीय वाङ्गमय में गुरु भक्ति के अनेक उदाहरण प्राप्त होते हैं।

इसी कारण गुरु को ब्रह्मा विष्णु व महेश से भी उच्च स्थान प्रदान किया गया है।

बराथ किनाथ सिरखेत बिरखेत धौलियाना भटवाड़ों कोचियार पतगांव आदि गांवों के लोग यहां पर गुरुदेव का आशीर्वाद लेने निरंतर आते रहते हैं। इसके साथ ही अन्य स्थानों से भी यहां सालभर दर्शनार्थी आते रहते हैं।

Barath village is divided into two parts.....
