Heat treatment method introduction

Heat treatment is a method of changing the properties of materials by controlling the heating and cooling process of materials to achieve the desired effect. The following are several common heat treatment methods:

Annealing: Heating a metal to a certain temperature (usually above the recrystallization temperature) and cooling it slowly to relieve stress, increase plasticity, improve toughness, and reduce hardness.

Quenching: Heating a metal to a certain temperature and then rapidly cooling it to room temperature or below to obtain high hardness and strength.

Tempering: Heating the quenched metal to an appropriate temperature, keeping it warm for a certain period of time, and then cooling at an appropriate rate to reduce brittleness and improve toughness.

Passivation (Aging): Heating the alloy material to a certain temperature, keeping it warm for a certain period of time, and then cooling it at an appropriate rate to produce solid solution work hardening, precipitation hardening or composite hardening.

Hot rolling: Metal is heated to a certain temperature to make it soft and deformable, and then rolled to change its shape and size.

Cold rolling: Rolling metal at room temperature for a higher surface finish and more precise dimensional control.
