So, overall, if I were to recommend an itinerary in Guatemala: I would skip Guatemala City, do Antigua for a day or two, go to the villages around Lago de Atitlan for the majority of the trip (San Pedro was my favorite, followed by San Marcos, San Juan, then Panajachel...but there are still so many others?), then call it a day, or continue on to Mexico or El Salvador by coach bus, or venture North and do Tikal, etc.
