Alternatives to Bail Always Fail

What would it be like without money based bail? No accountability. Criminals would be booked into jail and walk out 10 minutes later to reoffend. Victims and public safety would be threatened. The cost to the taxpayers would be astronomical to rearrest defendants that fail to appear in court. Every alternative to cash bail have failed. Ankle bracelets, house arrest, written promises and restraining orders have all failed. When a defendant is out on a bail bond the court is guaranteed the defendant will appear in court or the Bail Agent will find the defendant at their cost. Not the taxpayers. Without bail we would have chaos. We've had cash bail for 200 years in the United States and it works.
