Talk’s Ian Collins is joined by former police sergeant Harry Tangye to discuss calls from the Government for forces to increase the use of stop and search.

Policing minister Chris Philp has described stop and search as a “vital tool” which is “not used nearly often enough”.

The use of stop and search was reduced after then home secretary Theresa May curbed powers amid fears black people were disproportionately targeted, restrictions which have been eased.

Harry tells Ian that stop and search has “been made out to be a huge problem”, adding that “it’s not worth it for officers” who risk facing disciplinary hearings over misuse of the powers.
