15 year old Samay Godika from Bengaluru, Popular vote winner at the Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2017, explains about Autophagy - the self cleansing mechanism of the body and the science behind fasting.
Saffin Mathew, curator of TEDxLavelleRoad, engages with Samay in a captivating fireside chat. Samay is a 15-year-old 10th grader, from Bangalore who participated in the Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2017, an initiative of the Zuckerberg Foundation and Khan Academy. This is an annual global competition, with the objective of inspiring creative thinking about science. The winner will be awarded a $250,000 scholarship. Samay won the global Popular Vote and is a finalist. Samay chose to work on the fascinating life sciences concept of ‘’Autophagy’’.
Samay was selected by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), for their Launch Entrepreneurship Program 2017. Out of 80 students selected in the program, he was one of just seven 9th graders selected from all over the world. The MIT experience led him to co-found Sirona Security, a company creating products to prevent home delivery package theft.
