How to visit Naoshima, Japan's Art Island, in one day!
Naoshima, the famous Art Island and Takamatsu's best chicken - Family Road Trip Across Japan, Episode 10

This is episode 10 of our epic road trip around Japan. In this video we visit the beautiful art island of Naoshima.

Our first stop, as always, is for coffee at Lima Coffee Roasters in Takamatsu. Then we catch the ferry to Naoshima. It's only a 50 minute ride.

It was a cold wet day on Naoshima so we rented a tiny little car to get around. We drove to the Benesse House Art Site to check out the art installations in the gardens. Yayoi Kusama's pumpkins are outstanding. Unfortunately the iconic Yellow Pumpkin was washed away in a typhoon in 2021. The parts of the pumpkin have been found but so far there is no word on restoration.

After snacking on the local salty sweets - ice cream, donuts and, salty caramels - we caught the ferry back to Takamatsu and went out for dinner. We found a restaurant, Ikkaku, that specialised in chicken and had one of the best, and cheapest, meals we've had so far (on this trip).
