The Santa Susana Field Lab is where rocket and reactor technology was developed and tested during the space race. In the process of trying to be first safety took a backseat. This lead to a partial meltdown of a test reactor, other less serious nuclear accidents and the contamination of the area. I spent 9 months getting permission from the Department of Energy to go on site to make this video.
