Welcome back to ProGuitarShop and ToneReport.com. Today, we’re stepping on the Disnortion Micro from Pigtronix. The original Disnortion combines three dirt effects in one box, an the Micro version harvests the best of the original in a tiny enclosure that can fit on any jam-packed pedalboard. At the heart of the Disnortion Micro are two finely-tuned dirt circuits, each running internally at 18 volts for maximum headroom. The overdrive section of the Disnortion is an articulate six-stage CMOS drive that relies on cascading gain stages for a buttery drive character. A separate fuzz circuit is packed into a six-position rotary switch for the fuzz’s filter section. Using this rotary switch yields a variety of filtering options for dramatically different EQ curves that alter the total character of the pedal. Things really get interesting with the Series/Parallel push-button switch. This switch alters the routing of the two circuits. In Parallel mode, both fuzz and overdrive circuits are layered on top of each other simultaneously. When in Parallel mode, the sound remains open and articulate, as well as extremely susceptible to the guitar’s controls, for a touch sensitive wall of dirt. In Series mode, the two circuits are routed one after the other. This mode is extremely interactive with the Fuzz Shape rotary, with even more extreme filtering effects and molten gain flowing through the pedal. And just like all Pigtronix pedals, the Disnortion is built to last using primo pieces throughout.
