~ Now this is what you call a super rarity that has only just come to light...a couple of days back my amazon delivery driver arrives with a c.d. titled 'new breed r&b- money talks' kent records thru ace records...containing 25 tracks of glorious r&b and lo & behold there is this track with little info 'the afterglows' - i'm a good woman' 1969 unreleased....so i looked around my notes and saw that when the band 'afterglow' packed it in circa '68 and going their own ways a few members regrouped with a female singer!!! the group its self formed in aug'65 from the band 'the madallions' in the mt.shasta/oregon area but then split but reforming a a year later when group members found themselves at 'chico state' so 'afterglow' came into being with the following musicians : tony tecumseh/gene resler/ron george/roger swanson & finally larry alexander with ron george bass an ex member of 'the racket squad (one album released & the fenways) the group began recording an album at 'golden state recorders' late '66 but due to studies stopped and began recording again in late '67...when the band split losing tecumseh/swanson - larry alexander/ron george & gene resler regrouped with a female singer and recorded a few demo's of which this track a version of a barabra lynn single from '66 'i'm a good woman' was later covered by bay area group's 'the generation & cold blood' with the vocalist from those two bands lydia pense! here the 'afterglows' stick firmly to the coldblood/generation versions with this unknown female singer but who was she? pocessing a fine pair of lungs for sure...a short while later gene resler & his then current wife formed a duo/trio and finally a four piece band with later a single released in santa rosa '69 'only love/soon i'lll be there' papillon records...enjoy!
