An arcade-styled cover of Thousand March, a level theme from Pizza Tower.

Here's some WAR to go with your love this Valentine's Day ;)

A few notes about the arrangement:

The original version of this song is a synth delight reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, and Hotline Miami! The level it plays in, WAR, is one of my favorites and definitely a standout level from the latter half of the game. This cover emulates the version made by Drunk Soup Can's channel, which adds in some sound effects like picking up the shotgun, the timer, and timer extensions. If anyone would prefer a version more faithful to the one on the official OST release, go ahead and leave a comment to let me know; it would be a fairly easy (but not effortless) task to restructure this version.

Thousand March was a great opportunity for me to play with feedback effects and dynamic changes to operator total levels. Instrument design from scratch is still a bit daunting to me but I'm getting more confident making larger and larger tweaks to patches in my library.

I was surprised by how well FM can imitate the low droning plane sounds at the start and end! The instrument originated from a keyboard used in Sonic 3D Blast's Green Grove zone, if you can believe it.

This song was one of the two remaining Pizza Tower songs I hinted I had plans to cover in my The Death that I Deservioli video. The other I expect will require me to play around with LFO or AM to make some wah wah clavinets or wurli pianos. Knowing that may be enough to work out which one it is ;) It won't be next though, and after it comes out I plan to focus my efforts on other titles.
