Invest 97L is showing signs of cyclonic organization in the western Caribbean Sea. It is projected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Helene as it passes near or over Yucatan, Mexico, or Pinar del Rio, Cuba.

In the mid-term, projections suggest it will strengthen into a hurricane and move over areas of the Florida Panhandle, western Georgia, and eastern Alabama.
