Selena Gomez is returning to her Disney roots -- it has finally been confirmed that the 19-year-old will indeed be gracing the screen one last time as Alex Russo when she stars in the highly-anticipated upcoming Wizards of Waverly Place Reunion movie. This hour-long special will be the second movie spin-off stemming from the Disney show and aside from David Henrie, who played the role of Selena's on-screen brother Justin, the film will reunite the whole gang for the first time since the series finale back in January. As for the plot -- the film will be following the Russo family and friends to Tuscany, Italy on a trip to meet their long lost relatives -- but naturally, when Alex tries to prove that she's more than a carefree young Wizard, she inadvertently conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex. When Evil Alex gets roped into a charming young wizards' foreboding plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself -- all atop the Tower of Pisa. We are so excited that we get to see the Russo's back together -- and we're not the only ones -- it turns out Selena is actually one of the film's executive producers and when the starlet spoke to Radio Disney this morning, she explained her reasoning behind her heavy involvement in the film, confessing quote, -- 'Wizards' and Disney Channel -- and everything that is part of this -- is my home." She added quote, "I'm not ready for it to be over, so I just kind of want to do one more thing." And you can bet Gomez is doing her best to deliver -- making sure that the original cast is on board so that they can provide the fans with quote, "a really, really good hour-long event that they can enjoy and will leave them feeling good." We can't wait to see how this new Wizards movie turns out -- but no word on a release date just yet considering production has yet to begin but of course, stay tuned into ClevverTV and we'll keep you updated on all the details as they emerge all the way up until the movie's premiere sometime next year.
