2024 is set to be the biggest electoral year in history, with over half of the global population called to cast their ballots.

No date opens a more momentous crossroads (domestically and abroad) than 5 November 2024. The outcome of the US elections could not only affect the future of liberal democracy and its institutions but may also redefine transatlantic relations and our security environment in fundamental ways.

By bringing together key experts and practitioners of transatlantic affairs right after Super Tuesday, this online Policy Dialogue addressed domestic and international trends underpinning the run-up to the elections. The event focused on the latest Transatlantic Trade and Technology Council meeting, Trump’s comments on NATO, the state-of-play in the primaries, von der Leyen’s announcement to run for a second mandate, what this means for transatlantic relations, as well as support to Ukraine stuck in Congress.
