Description of the Monument :

The eponymous dome of the Gumbad might have been built in the year 1420 .
Chor Gumbad is a part of one of the two groups of royal tombs located on the East and the West of the Fort. Chor Gumbad is not a house of a grave, but is perhaps a victory monument.
Chor Gumbad was constructed by Ahmad Shah
to honour his victory over his brother Firuz Shah. The tomb stands as a lone structure on a plateau-like piece of land .
It has Unique and Beautifully set piece of Architecture Dome. It is locally referred to as the Welcoming Dome as the sight of it can be seen from any location in Gulbarga.
Chor Gumbad is a significant part of the past and present of Gulbarga .
The best time of the day to visit it is early during the morning or later towards the evening .
The monument can be visited during timings 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
Now we shall see it from the close and then from the inside . The monument earned its name from its association with thieves, either because of robbers occupying it or because of its labyrinthine corridors meant to throw them off their trail. Its position upon the hilltop also assures visitors of a sweeping panoramic view of the city below .
Chor Gumbad's height is more than 100ft tall .
You can see the Ring road on the side of the Chor Gumbad.
You can also see the Developments of the City from the far of the Monument & Scenario opposite to the Gulbarga Fort.
Chor Gumbad is protected under the aegis of the State Archaeological department of Karnataka. Some of the finest stucco work can be seen inside on the ceiling of the dome .
we shall see it now !
The hall which forms the interior of the Chor Gumbad rises to a height of 100 feet and also produces an echoing effect.
The ceiling of the dome is decorated with a band of stucco scrolls .
It has a large leaf shaped tree design filled with scrolls. There are steps that leads to an upper corridor but be careful its very dark .

Its beautiful stucco work dating back to the 15th century is worth the time for a history buff or an art.
From this height u can enjoy the view of the Beautiful City " GULBARGA "
Nibbas Love stories are destroying the Beauty of the Monument . They use the stones and strike for hours on the walls,
which destroys the beauty of the monument.
There is only 1 metre space to walk on the top,
so be carefull and don't involve in mischievous play. Take a moment and appreciate the Architectural work which stands for hundreds of years with immense power and Beauty.
This tomb is visible while travelling in train close by Gulbarga Station which indicates that you are about to visit the Beautiful Gulbarga City.
I hope you like this video. Thankyou !
