 Although The Asset is one of 2025’s best new thrillers, Netflix’s Danish spy series needs a second season to clear up its cliffhanger ending. There is nothing worse than a thriller that wraps up at the wrong moment. Obviously, failing to answer the main mystery at the core of the story is the most frustrating mistake a thriller can make.  However, it can be just as damaging when a show doesn’t know when to stop. For example, Twin Peaks’ best twist was a devastating reveal that tore the heart out of the show’s audience, but it soon became clear that season 2 had no idea where to go after this brutal twist.  Similarly, Prison Break was one of the most exciting shows on television when Wentworth Miller’s Michael Scofield was still trying to break his innocent brother out of prison, but the show soon ran out of steam once the pair were out and on the run. Sadly, Netflix’s great new thriller The Asset ran into a similar problem. The Asset Season 2 Needs to Reveal Who Shot Tea In The Asset’s Ending  The Asset follows Clara Dessau’s police recruit Tea, who must cozy up with the gangland kingpin Miran’s girlfriend, Ashley, so she can infiltrate his drug trafficking ring. Sadly for Tea, this plan goes a little too well. Tea ends up genuinely developing a bond with Ashley and her young daughter, Sofia, meaning she is left worried by Miran’s potential downfall.  As The Asset’s story rockets toward its thrilling conclusion, Tea is eventually forced to reveal her real origins to Ashley to protect her from Miran. Tea’s employers, Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service, are closing in on Miran’s operation, and Ashley and Sofia will become part of the operation’s collateral damage unless they follow Tea’s instructions.  As much as Ashley feels betrayed by Tea’s revelation of her real identity, she also knows that Sofia’s father, Miran, is a dangerous man, so she needs to get out of his drug empire if she wants to remain alive and in contact with her daughter. As a result, she does what Tea says.  Although Tea and Miran do face off, Sofia and Ashley successfully escape the mob boss, and Miran is finally apprehended and charged with countless drug offenses.
