⁴ᴷ New Jersey Transit: On Board 2024 New Flyer XD60 24012 on Route 158 (7/8/24)

Since March, NJT has officially gotten their first buses from their allotment of option order XD60's that were extended off of the initial 2019-2021 order of New Flyer XD60 buses, originally intended to replace all of the 2003-2004 Neoplan AN459 buses (uniquely a foot shorter than their base model, the AN460), and to fill in for fleet and relieve the amount of buses on a route at a time, thus letting there be more NABI 416.15 Suburban and Transit buses available for the routes that need more frequencies. Since the first buses fro the 2024 order arrived to Fairview Garage as their first housing, they've slowly but surely been replacing the older, aged 2007-2008 NABI 416.15 (40-SFW) Suburban fleet, Fairview in question having had the oldest buses in the fleet, and still do as the order hasn't been completed. All 2024 XD60's run alongside the already established 2020 XD60's in the garage, as well as the existing and retiring suburbans, a handful of transits, and as well as the long distance and run time safe D4500CT's that they also mix in with the fleet. With the 2024 order compared to the 2020 order, there are very few visual differences that can be found with these buses, but notable ones that can be found are different HVAC units (and thus a lack of extra ventilation on the roofline on the side of both HVAC units), a lack of extra ventilation pockets on the rear parts of the bus, which the 2019-2021 order had as patches, and finally a different NJT logo placement on the rear of the bus. As usual, the model year of the bus can be found by looking at the first 2 numbers of the buses unit number, with all buses of this fleet featuring "24", being that they are 2024 models. #newjerseytransit
