SynthfestUK 24: Electronic and North EMOM Group

At SynthfestUK 2024, we spoke with Martin and Chris about the burgeoning Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) scene, particularly in the North of England. Martin shared insights into the unexpected momentum EMOM events have gained since their inception in 2017, while COVID-19 posed challenges, it also created a pent-up demand for community-based music-making.

Both Martin and Chris discussed how EMOM gatherings differ from traditional gigs, offering an informal and welcoming environment for both seasoned and novice performers.

To explore or participate in an EMOM, Martin suggests simply attending one - often held in local pubs as a low-commitment way to test the waters.
The EMOM network continues to expand, utilizing diverse venues, from libraries to skate parks, ensuring there's a place for everyone.
