John Dummer is an English drummer, singer, songwriter who led his own blues-based bands The John Dummer Band and the John Dummer Blues Band during the late 60’s and early 70’s. Other incarnations were John Dummer’s Oobleedooblee Band, John Dummer’s Famous Music Band and The John Dummer Band Featuring Nick Pickett. Members included at one time or another Graham Bond, Dave Kelly, Jo Ann Kelly, Tony McPhee and Pick Withers and would back luminaries like Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker on UK tours. Under one moniker or another, there would be 6 albums including a Lost 1973 album that would come to light in 2008. After the band broke up John became a promotion manager for a period. He drummed for the band Darts, toured and recorded with Lowell Fulson and managed The Screaming Blue Messiahs for 3 years. A move to France found John working as an antiques trader, furniture restorer and author. In fact, John wrote 2 books on his experiences in France.
