In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, with our dog, to Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia. We stayed at Glenrowan Tourist Park. In the episode I give you a tour around the caravan park.

Glenrowan was named after farmers James and George Rowan who ran farms in the area between 1846 and 1858. The township was settled in the late 1860s, the Post Office opening on 22 February 1870.

The township of Glenrowan may be most famous as the site of the final siege and capture of Ned Kelly and his gang in 1880. Their story is preserved in the township’s attractions, museums, and historic walk, however there is much more to Glenrowan than Ned and his armour.
You can easily explore the town on foot. Pick up a copy of the Glenrowan Heritage Siege Precinct walking map from one of the local businesses or from the local information stand at the Glenrowan Vintage Hall & Cafe. This helpful flyer will guide you around key Ned Kelly Gang sites of significance such as the Ann Jones' Glenrowan Inn, Police Shelter Site, Gravel Contractors Encampment, Ned Kelly Capture Site, McDonnell's Railway Tavern and much more.

Glenrowan Tourist Park
Set on 35 acres, nestled at the foothills of the Warby Ovens National Park you will find native flora, fauna and bird life in abundance around this caravan park Just minutes from the Hume Fwy, they are are close option to stay near town to explore Glenrowan and the regional townships of Wangaratta, Benalla, Milawa, Eldorado and more. Unwind and lounge poolside, perfect for relaxing with your favourite novel or cooling off after a day of cycling or hiking. They are pet friendly too. It’s BYO fire pit or borrow one of theirs. Firewood available for purchase $15 per 15kg bag.

Kates cottage gift & souvenir shop
Kate’s Cottage, Gifts & Souvenirs shop is aptly named after Ned Kelly’s sister Kate. The Shop and Kelly Display is situated opposite the “Big Ned Kelly” Statue on the corner of Gladstone and Kate Streets and features a huge range of interesting and exciting Ned Kelly and Australiana gifts and souvenirs.

Ned Kelly’s last stand Glenrowan tourist centre.
This unique attraction tells the story of Ned Kelly’s last stand, using animatronic figurines and special effects. The show runs every half hour and travels through several animated rooms. You also can browse the museum section afterwards. There is an entry fee to the show.

Vintage Hall cafe
Pam and Simon took over the Glenrowan Hall in 2017 with a vision of establishing a café and antiques shop for the town and visitors. The Heritage listed hall showcases one of the biggest selections of Ned Kelly memorabilia, collectible glassware, porcelain, jewellery, and tools. There is also a variety of vintage clothing, old vinyls, books, and magazines for purchase. The cafe was added to the Hall during the 1960's.It is fully licensed and open 7 days a week from 8am till 4pm. The menu offers an excellent selection catering for most dietary requirements including coeliac, vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian.

We enjoy part-time van life, creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla.
