Due to a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges on Tuesday, July 9. The BMC stated, "The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rains in Mumbai on July 8, 2024. In response, the Municipal Corporation has made necessary preparations to ensure that Mumbai's residents do not face any inconvenience. Considering the rain situation, a holiday has been declared for all primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools and colleges in the Mumbai Metropolitan area on Tuesday, July 9, 2024."
On July 8, French President Emmanuel Macron declined the resignation of the Prime Minister, asking him to stay on temporarily after tumultuous election results left the government in a state of uncertainty.
