Rufous-Collared Kingfisher Call.

On 3 June 2024, our Birdwatching Asia team visited Sungai Congkak, which is on of the top places for birdwatching and bird photography around KL, and we encountered a beautiful Rufous-Collared Kingfisher perched on an open branch, just 5 metres from us. This was a perfect opportunity to photograph the bird, observe it and also had time to take a video of the Rufous-Collared Kingfisher calling.

It stayed for around 7-8 minutes and eventually flew off. Our team was very happy with this sighting and was a super bonus for the two new birders that followed us. Sungai Congkak is one of the best places for birding in Selangor but it is not guaranteed that you can see the Rufous-Collared Kingfisher as close as this. It all depends on luck and location.
