Residents in the US state of Kentucky are returning home to assess the devastating damage caused by flash flooding.

At least 26 people, including children, were killed in what officials have described as an ongoing natural disaster.

“This is still an emergency situation, we are in search and rescue mode, but again that count is going to continue to go up, and we don’t lose this many people in flooding – this is a real tough one,” Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said.
