The Cinerama Dome is based on a geodesic dome developed by R. Buckminster Fuller - built by Architects Pierre Cabrol, Welton Becket & Associates. It is the only concrete geodesic dome in the world. Located at 6360 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA. The movie theater opened November 1963, in time for the premier of Stanley Kramer's "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, World". The theater is made up of 316 individual hexagonal and pentagonal shapes in 16 different sizes. Design elements include a floating stairways a loge section and stadium seating. At the time of its opening, Cinema Dome was the largest contoured motion picture screen in the world : 32 ft high and 86 ft wide.
Due to COVID-19 the theater closed permanently in April 2021 and announcements made that there are plans to reopen under the new name, Cinerama Hollywood.

The first movie I saw there was " Roots", 1995 and the last movie I saw there was "The Favorite", 2019. Beautiful mid century interior with huge ladies room with a lounge.
I look forward to seeing future movies there and hope they leave the majority of interior intact.
