World Migratory Bird Day 2024!

🎉Chirp, flap, hooray!! 🐦🌷
Thank you Canadian Tulip Festival providing @wildbirdsunlimitedofkanata5218 and the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre with the main stage and lawn area to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with hundreds of visitors this past Saturday. Despite a few showers throughout the day, it was 'water off a duck's back' 🦆 as everyone continued to have a great time and the raindrops did not dampen anyone's spirits! Thank you everyone for coming out to participate! 😃

This was our 3rd annual WMBD event and was the largest one we have hosted by far! This epic event would not have been possible without the help of our amazing volunteers who helped set up, take down, and ran ALL of the activity stations while educating people of all ages about wild birds and insects. From the bottom of our hearts to the tips of our feathers, Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! 🥰👏

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Michelle for bringing a beautiful display from the Canadian National Collection of Insects and sharing her expert knowledge with everyone!

We wish DeeDee the mascot a safe migration journey back home and look forward to celebrating Migratory Bird Day again in the fall. Stay tuned!
