Filling your garden with plant starts and seedlings is an easy to take the stress and monitoring out of seed starting, and focus all of your energy on the actual growth of your plants in their final location.

While not every cultivar is available everywhere you can usually find enough interesting things, particular at nurseries that specialize in native/local plants and perennials.

Any annual or perennial that requires either cold stratification or a long germination period is wise to start from a seedling. Peppers are the most common one that I recommend, because they take eons to germinate and get to seedling size. Perennials like yarrow, or fruit trees will also save you a ton of time for not a lot of money, and I’ve even been known to get a few brassicas and milkweeds.
