Welcome to bicycle.restoration no 2 – part II - chapter II

Hope you enjoyed chapter I.

In chapter II you can see how I used a cheap stainless rear fender for the front. Reshaped an cutted the ends so it looks like nearly lijke one of those old french fenders or some Honjos.
Also made a socket on the front rack to hold the front fender and also a special part on the lathe for the fork crown mounting.

The front lamp is one of the last original parts from the Stricker. Really like the shapes of it. Polished the housing a bit and overhold the inner parts.
Painted the glass with a yellow glaze, it looked horrible. So i immediately cleaned it and at the same time the glass broke. Had to make a new one.

The original dynamo was too big and heavy so I chose another one I had in stock. Also cleaned and polished it, came out very nice! Good restoration :)

Did a lot of thougts on the brake lever and finally chose one from Dia Compe. Removed the painting and polished the blank alloy. Looks good but finally I will take another brake lever (invers - like those old french bikes).

At least I restored an old Ideale saddle. The result was not really what i expected, but it's ok, it shines again.

In general I didn’t take the time to film every step of all parts that were built or restored during this project. Sorry for that, but I got a normal life and YouTube is just a very, very small part of it.

If you are interested, visit my Instagram account. There you can see every step that was made, every part that has been restored or built.

I tried to include some of those Instagram pictures in the video to get everything in the right context, hope this kind of documentation is not to boring for you.

The frameset, the front rack and the fenders will get some fresh powder coating (for those who complained that in my first restoration video were I kept the old painting).
The result of this will be shown in part III or a little bit earlier on my Instagram account.

I used a Sony FDR-AX53 cam.
The machinery I used are from Makita, Bosch and Paulimot, the other tools are mainly from Gedore, Hazet, Wiha, Parktool and my grandfather.

If you have any questions about the video, the bicycle, the tools or the cam just ask me in the comments.
Hope you enjoy watching my new video.

Visit my Instagram accout, there you see the latest progress of the bike.
