Derek Alexander, National Trust for Scotland, presents a short lecture on “‘Staffa & Fingal’s Cave: prehistoric settlement and historic tourism” on behalf of himself, Prof. Sian Jones, Tessa Poller, Dr Daniel Rhodes & Dr Stuart Jeffrey (National Trust for Scotland & University of Glasgow) at the Archaeological Research in Progress (ARP 2019) national day conference on Saturday 25th May 2019 at the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Excavations on Staffa and analysis of Fingal’s Cave supported by the Society have given a greater time-depth and immersive experience for this world famous site.

Archaeological Research in Progress (ARP) is a day conference presenting new research findings and best practice in archaeology covering all periods from across Scotland and beyond. It is organised in alternate years by Archaeology Scotland and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
