The recent statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which has sparked another controversy. In the latest developments, the Hindi imposition debate has once again ignited in the country after Home Minister Amit Shah considered it as an alternative to English. Meanwhile, the opposition parties have slammed the BJP government for imposing Hindi on the citizens. Speaking on this, DMK spokesperson Sarvanan Annadurai said “Any language other than my mother tongue is a foreign language to me. Be it Telugu, Kannada, Japanese, Hindi. I will treat them all in the same manner. This push for Hindi instead of English is an imposition.”

The South however raises its voice against Hindi supremacy by saying that Hindi is only 1 among 22 great languages. As Bollywood personalities back Hindi as the national language, contemporaries in Sandalwood, Tollywood, and Kollywood take up the diverse linguistic culture of India. In a country like India, where each language has its own claim to greatness, it'd be a grave injustice in the 21st century to earmark one language as more dominant than others.
