With sheer blessings and Doer-ship of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, ‘Sahajanand Gaave’ experiences immense happiness and boundless excitement in presenting Raag Jangla-Bhairavi Dadra by Sadguru Brahmanand Swami. This beautiful dadra has been elegantly composed and magnificently sung by Anol Chatterjee. ‘Sahajanand Gaave’ is utterly grateful for his invaluable contribution to the project.

Anol Chatterjee is one of the most prominent Indian Classical young vocalists from India. He is a prime disciple of Guru Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. He has received musical training from Late Sri Ajit Chakrabarty, Smt. Chandana Chakrabarty and Sri Shantanu Bhattacharyya as well. Anol Chatterjee a noted lyricist and music composer himself is also equally able to perform Light Classical Music, Bengali semi classical songs and Devotional songs as well.

Thumri/Dadra is a semi-classical form of singing from Northern India. Historically, it has been developed and evolved in the holy city of Varanasi, based on the love and romance of Radha and Krishna. Unlike the purely classical forms of Dhrupad and khayal, thumris tend to be strongly text-led with words playing a more important part than music.

Even so, thumris and dadras are based on the same ragas (melodic structures) as classical music, although not all of these lend themselves to this text-laden style which makes the same few ragas, usually the more romantic evening ones, reappear frequently. The 'rules' of a raga also tend to be treated more liberally in light classical styles.

The languages of thumri and dadra are old North Indian dialects like Purbi and Braj Bhasha, and lyrical themes usually feature love scenarios between the deity Lord Krishna and his consort Radha.

The lyrics and form of this Dadra were extracted in its original form from The Brahmanand Kavya published by Shri Vallabhdas Oghadlaal - 3rd Edition in Mumbai.

This Dadra written by Sadguru Brahmananad Swami is not only a documentation of his constant Love and Devotion towards Bhagwan Swaminarayan but it is also a validation of Swami’s versatility, knowledge and talent due to the grace of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. From composing par excellent regional Gujarati folk songs to pure classical dhrupads to semi-classical forms like Thumri and Dadra, S. Brahmanand Swami’s Kavya is an apparent documentation of Swami’s utmost brilliance, competence and unparalleled knowledge and skills in music.

However, along with such knowledge and brilliance, Swami never fails to infuse each and every pad with everlasting divinity, such that one would be so mesmerized by its devotional richness that he/she would completely overlook its technical correctness and brilliance.

We sincerely hope that this bandish will enhance the glory of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, His paramhansas and their magnificent work in the hearts of the viewers.

We are truly grateful and obliged to Bhagwan Swaminarayan for blessing this project and enabling the team to present the transcending work of His Paramhansas through the global social platform of YouTube. We humbly pray for the prayers and blessings of all fellow viewers to continue presenting such wonderful work of Swamianarayan Saints through this channel.
