Missus Beastly, one of Germany's first Jazz Rock and Progressive Rock bands, perhaps the first, was founded in 1968. The group, which took its first name from Psychotic Reaction, which is a strangely psychedelic state, soon followed by Reaction, and then from Mistress Beastly, a black doll that appeared in an American TV show, has two different periods of evolution. Missus beastly, which appeared on the stage as a modest but influential group in the first period between 1968 and 1970, took a bigger and different form in the second period with names such as Roman Bunka and Christian Burchard.
Right after the first semester, they encounter a lot of problems. A group of other musicians, who can be described as different and usurping, start making music by stealing the name Missus Beastly. While this creates big problems, the band members somehow manage to save their names. They develop over time and turn from a quartet into a group formation of six or seven. Meanwhile, they do not have any financial problems because they have achieved great commercial success. They even make even more money as co-founders of an independent record label called April.
This is an opportunity that many groups do not have. Missus Beastly, on the other hand, goes down in music history as one of the rare bands that make good use of the opportunity and have the ability to combine quality albums and commercial success.
This first album of the band, which is an album based on Jazz Rock, is a very successful album. Although it may not be as good as those produced by later formations. To be honest, not that much anyway. But the fact that they were one of the first bands in Germany in this field during the period when Progressive Rock and Jazz Rock were in the development phase increases the importance of the album even more.
The album is basically not just a Jazz Rock album. It contains influences from many different styles and genres. One of the most prominent ones is the Blues. But we can say that it becomes breathtaking because they use it at a certain level and in an uncertain way. Yes, there is blues, but when you listen to it, you wonder where it is. In addition, it is an album that is extremely enthusiastic and exciting. It's one of those strange, confusing albums that takes the listener away, where you don't know where or what will happen. A rare piece that is included in the Krautrock genre.
