When I accidentally rode more than 1000 miles in a single day in less than 24 hours (Albuquerque, NM to Los Angeles, CA) in 2008 because I needed to get home, I realized that doing those "SaddleSore 1000" rides that I had heard other motorcyclists complete was possible and I could do it again.

Completing a certified Iron Butt SaddleSore 1000 is more attainable than you think, and it requires some preparation for yourself and your motorcycle to ensure that you're ready for any situation. This is a broad introduction to getting your feet wet in this craft.

About the presenter: Christine the "Two-Wheeled Tourist" has completed five IBA-certified rides since 2010 (three SS1000s, one BB1500, and one SS2000) aside from her unofficial one in 2008. She likes to eat miles and has ended up in other states for lunch. One of her bucket list items is to complete a 50cc (Coast-to-Coast in 50 hours or less) which also crosses off the final four contiguous US states that she hasn't ridden through on a motorcycle (Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida).
