An installation demonstrating how the Schumann resonance (the global electromagnetic resonance phenomenon*) can sound in combination with other physical phenomena.

Schumann resonances occur because the space between the surface of the Earth and the conductive ionosphere acts as a closed, although variable-sized, waveguide. The limited dimensions of the Earth cause this waveguide to act as a resonant cavity for electromagnetic waves in the extremely low frequency band. The cavity is naturally excited by electric currents in lightning.

Jose Angelino (Ragusa, 1977) creates installations by applying the behaviours and laws of nature. His artistic research is inspired by observing natural events and their dynamics, playing with interference, resonance and the natural flows of energy. His works are small enclosed worlds that bring together scientific experiments and artistic practices, where details are the starting point for reconstructing the reality we perceive. Angelino comes from a physics background and his knowledge of classical mechanics and quantum physics influences the way he creates his art. In his work, the artist reproduces and modifies how a natural eventoccurs, rendering the subtlest aspects of the natural world around us visible or audible. The works on displayare activated by Schumann resonances, referred to as "Mother Earth's heartbeat", that is, the natural frequencies of the Earth.
The room has been conceived by Angelino as a site-specific single organism, where the artist stages the indefinite boundary between space and light, matter and void, aesthetics and physics.
