A new study from the "Wall Street Journal" shows homicides are plummeting in several American cities, but where does Charlotte stand with its homicide rates?

Data gathered by Wall Street Journal reporters looking at statistics from various police departments show many larger cities are seeing a decrease in homicide numbers and Charlotte is actually seeing an increase.

In the first quarter of last year, Charlotte had 25 homicides. In the first quarter of this year, there were 34, which is an almost 36% increase.
