For this episode of our filmmaking podcast, we met Neil Marshall (@neilmarshall_director) an Emmy-nominated director, writer, editor and producer, known for cult films such as The Descent and his work on hit shows like Game of Thrones.

Marshall supported himself for eight years as a freelance editor before hitting his stride with two films: Dog Soldiers and The Descent, which put him on the map as a top-notch horror director that blends hyper-stylized violence with Matic complexity.

After his success with the latter, Marshall was listed on Variety’s 10 Directors to Watch and described as “the most exciting genre filmmaker to arrive on the British scene for many years.”

Charlotte Kirk (@charlottekirkofficial) is an English actress and singer who has already carved a path for herself in Hollywood.

After studying theatre in England, she moved to New York at the age of 19, where she got her big break. In 2015, she landed a starring role in sci-fi thriller Vice, alongside Bruce Willis and Thomas Jane. From there, she went on to star in films such as The Depths, How to be Single and Ocean’s 8.

Her upcoming roles include Nicole Simpson in the OJ Simpson biopic 'Nicole & OJ', as well as The Reckoning, which she co-wrote with Neil Marshall and Edward Swindell.

In this episode, Marshall breaks down the story behind creating Dog Soldiers, directing an Emmy-nominated episode of Game of Thrones, and the films that inspired his career. Later, Kirk joins him to discuss her burgeoning career as well as how they developed and produced their upcoming film 'The Reckoning'.
