🌱 What is Leaf Mould?
Leaf mould is composted leaves through a fungi process.The fungi and microorganisms break down leaves into rich organic soil that is packed with essential nutrients that plants need. Leaf mould acts as a natural conditioner, enhancing soil structure, moisture retention, and overall plant health. Just like in a forest, composted leaves in the garden and food forest boost soil fertility, suppress weeds and improve water retention. Making leaf mould is super easy, and it's a free and organic way to improve soil health.

Method 1: Just leave the leaves that have been bagged up in paper bags and let them break down naturally
Method 2: Leaves that have been bagged up in plastic bags can also just be left alone to compost on their own. Poke holes in the bags, flip them occasionally, make sure they don't dry out, and keep them out of direct sunlight
Method 3: Add smaller leaves or shredded leaves directly onto your garden to break down in place. The smaller the leaves, the faster they will decompose and turn into healthy soil.
Method 4: Make a leaf cage from wire to contain the leaves. Mix them up ever so often and make sure they don't dry out. You can also add worm castings to speed up the process as I do.
