Michael Bauer is one of the leader's behind sustainability efforts at Naropa. He currently serves the university as the Director for the Joanna Macy Center for Resilience and Regeneration and teaches a sustainability seminar in the undergraduate college.

Before arriving at Naropa, Bauer was an engineering faculty member at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he helped design a new sustainable systems engineering degree program. He is passionate about developing novel solutions in climate mitigation, humanitarian engineering, and regenerative agriculture.

He brings his brilliance in system engineering to Naropa because he believes mindfulness is the key that will unlock the next phase of the sustainability movement.
