The More Ridgey Ridgeway | Sag Paneer on Chinnor Hill | Sunset on Beacon Hill

Описание к видео The More Ridgey Ridgeway | Sag Paneer on Chinnor Hill | Sunset on Beacon Hill

An afternoon / early evening out to follow a section of the Ridgeway in the Chiltern Hills, between Princes Risborough and Lewknor, where the modern Ridgeway National Trail crosses the M40. For most of this section the modern trail follows the foot of the hills, and I wondered if there might be a now forgotten route along the top of the hills there.

Along the way I stopped at Chinnor Hill, where there are two (Bronze Age?) bowl barrows, and a beautiful view. I cooked my lunch there - Sag Paneer with rice - and sampled some Burgundy from a different village for a change: Fixin, Gevrey Chambertin's neighbour.

I then followed roads and paths from there to Beacon Hill, above where the M40 passes through the Chilterns, trying to get a sense of where the old hilltop route of the Ridgeway might have gone.

Finally I was treated to a beautiful sunset from Beacon Hill, had another glass or two of wine there, before stumbling down the hill in the dark to the motorway junction at Lewknor, where conveniently there's a coach service (The "Oxford Tube") which took me back to London.
