This is the filming location for the ferry scene attack from Steven Spielberg's 2005 film "War of the Worlds." This memorable scene was shot in the small upstate town of Athens, New York which lies right on the Hudson River. The dock and the ferry itself was built specifically for the movie and was torn down after but the rest of the town still looks the same.
