Deputy Commandant of the Assam Rifles was denied cash reward by the govt of Haryana, stating that he was neither a part of the Indian Army or any other service of the Indian Armed Forces. Therefore, the officer challenged the decision of the govt in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. It took him 7 years to secure a judgement in his favour.
